Knowing when you are stuck in the process. In applying the 8 Steps of Atonement we may find ourselves at one or all the points in the Atonement Process not progressing or moving past a sin, wrong, or act of mistrust. We may even say “Can we move past this?” However, that is not realistic, and it does not show that we have truly understood the damage we have caused to the other person who is actually feeling the effects of what was said or done to them.
